The Non-Toxic Farming Handbook by Philip A. Wheeler, Ph.D. & Ronald B. WardIn this readable, easy-to-understand handbook, the authors successfully integrate the diverse techniques and technologies of classic organic farming, Albrecht-style soil fertility balancing, Reams-method soil and plant testing and analysis, and other alternative technologies applicable to commercial-scale agriculture. By understanding all of the available non-toxic tools and when they are effective, you will be able to react to your specific situation and growing conditions. The result will be an ever-improving soil fertility, healthy crops that provide their own insect and disease resistance, fields without the curse of weeds, and the satisfaction that you are a true steward of the land. Covers fertility inputs, in-the-field testing, foliar feeding, refractometers, tillage, livestock nutrition, moon cycles and subtle energies, and more. The Non-Toxic Farming Handbook is the result of a lifetime of eco-consulting.... Link: www.acresusa.com/books/closeup.asp?action=search&prodid=19&catid=&p

I have made note of this book - will be haunting the library again! This does demand attention here in the states, especially - having come from a farming 'family' where pesticides and herbicides were the order of every day (me, the only one who dared utter the word ORGANIC!) I am all too aware of the disasters created in the name of 'growing things'...I look forward to finally having people around me who share my views of loving the land we live on, through, and because of. Blessings to you ~~it is d**n time people are made aware of ways to load a planter that don't involve masking up and showering outside before entering the house...hope this book is a good starting place.
