We tried this earlier in the year and found it amazing for courgettes and marrows. We will be doing the same next year for other types of squash as well. Here's the evidence:- You dig a pit or a trench and put unrotted compost materials in it - kitchen waste, garden waste, shredded paper, put the soil back on top with some rotted compost and then put your seedlings in. Keep them watered and that's it. Squashes are greedy and soon start to feed of the compost that is rotting below them. Once the season has finished you remove the plants and underneath is rotted compost! How cool is that? Wassail Karen
