The latest proposal that London has a desalinization plant to provide water when there is a drought will cost millions and the power needed to run it is astronomical and will add to CO2 emissions, surly a water national grid would be much more reasonable. It is also a fact that the south of England has had two years of low rainfall but all the Global warming models suggest that this will not be a permanent problem and there is probably no need for this. The Scary thing is that I am finding myself agreeing with Ken Livingstone when he suggests that the money would be better spent fixing the leaks that loose thousands of gallons of water a day under London. Ken also says that the CO2 emissions to run such a plant would be excessive.
